Congenital heart disease affects people of all ages, and the age of diagnosis can vary. University Heart and Children’s Heart Center at Children’s of Mississippi faculty and staff work to mend patients’ hearts and keep them healthy. This story chronicles the medical journeys of two patients - an adult and an infant - who are benefiting from UMMC's care.

For many months, the Medical Center has worked to give residents of Madison County and surrounding areas access to specialty care, including many fields of surgery. With the move of University Physicians clinic space into Merit Health Madison's medical office building, patients can enjoy added conveniences and care closer to home.

Dr. Roy Duhe has a lesson he would like to impart well beyond the classroom. It’s a lesson he lived last spring, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, when sinister, but little-known symptoms of the virus signaled that “it’s not merely a respiratory disease.”

It takes a crew with an able leader to perform the groundskeeping needed on a campus that sprawls over close to 200 acres - and don't forget the Veterans Memorial Stadium parking lot. Doug Craft and his four groundskeepers strive to make the Medical Center a safe and beautiful place to work and visit.
