Since its creation almost two years ago, the UMMC Opioid Task Force has taken the fight against opioid addiction and abuse to the classroom, the clinic and the community. Its education blitz is arming caregivers, students and many Mississippi residents with information they can use to help check a menace that has cost the state and nation thousands of lives.
As cases of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 continue to be diagnosed worldwide, Medical Center experts are equipping employees and staff with the vital information they need to be prepared should UMMC receive a patient with the new strain, first detected in late 2019 in Wuhan City, China.
Future physicians, nurse practitioners, first responders and others will now be exposed to more cutting-edge training at the Medical Center, thanks to a global company’s gift of an advanced anesthesia machine. Simulation and Interprofessional Education Center staff say the machine is destined to pump new life into the campus’ learning environment.
Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
