For the first time, students and faculty members from the School of Nursing managed and staffed the first aid tent at the Sanderson Farms Championship. They provided services for free, treating spectators, professional golfers and everyone associated with the event.

UMMC has received intellectual property rights for new techniques to treat kidney disease, diagnose and manage sepsis and provide remote emergency department services. These innovations are part of UMMC’s broader shift towards a more inventive culture.

Mississippi children who need heart surgery and other cardiac care have never had so many experts by their side. Pediatric cardiology at Children’s of Mississippi is growing as its new home, a seven-story children’s hospital expansion, is under construction. The need is great: About one in 100 babies is born with a heart defect.
