Rain couldn’t keep the Meridian community away from the opening celebration for the new Children’s of Mississippi specialty clinic adjacent to Anderson Regional Medical Center. The affiliation brings pediatric subspecialties such as neurology and orthopaedics closer to home for Meridian-area patients and their families.

The pain was feigned but the aim was sincere: bettering the health care of tomorrow by improving teamwork among students today. During a two-day period, hundreds of Medical Center learners were tested not only on their ability to use their knowledge, but also on their willingness to hear what others know.

On Feb. 16, the Jackson Heart Study formally launched its Community Engagement Center, a new component that expands the study's ability to translate its findings into better cardiovascular health. The JHS’s new Graduate Training and Education Center at UMMC is also preparing for its first cohort of students.

An associate professor of dentistry becomes an ADEA leadership fellow, a third-year dental student is selected for a prestigious internship and the School of Nursing receives a gubernatorial award for its Mercy Delta Express.
