Early intervention from Children’s of Mississippi experts has helped Aubrey Armstrong thrive despite a diagnosis of Down syndrome. The Oxford Middle School student who loves music, dancing, pageants and her Ole Miss Rebels is Mississippi’s 2019 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion.

Even though non-Hispanic whites and African-Americans have similar rates of tobacco use, the latter experience higher rates of peripheral artery disease, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. New research from UMMC scientists shows how much someone smokes can increase PAD risk even more.
