With the Nov. 10 dedication of the new Translational Research Center, UMMC marked a new chapter in its research mission. Designed for collaborative work ranging from basic science to business partnerships, the new building will help advance discovery and, ultimately, the health of Mississippians.

The Office of Research hosted its annual Excellence in Research Awards Nov. 9 to recognize faculty members for their success in gaining outside funding. The 19 medallion recipients contributed to UMMC’s record-high 316 grants and awards for fiscal year 2017.

Last Friday’s dedication of the new Translational Research Center marked the beginning of a momentous commitment to research at UMMC and a milestone in the career of the person who will oversee its work: Dr. Richard Summers, associate vice chancellor for research.
