Beginning Monday, August 14, 2023, all isolation precaution orders will be deprecated. Updates to a patients isolation status must be made using the Infections and Isolations Activity. The implementation of Bugsy eliminates the need to place isolation orders on a patient. The deprecation of isolation precaution orders will impact all UMMC locations where Bugsy is used, both Inpatient and Ambulatory. The Isolations and Infections Activity can be accessed from either the Patient Storyboard or from the Index Physician Report. The isolation status can be updated by simply clicking the hyperlink to add, remove, or update as appropriate. 

Try it out

Update Isolation Status from Storyboard 

1. Click on the Isolation hyperlink from storyboard to open the Infections and Isolations Activity. 

2. Use the Add New or Removehyperlinks to update the Isolation information as appropriate. 

3. Use the magnifying glass to search for available options and select Accept to update the isolation information.

3. THe isolation status can be updated from the Index Physician Report by clicking the hyperlink to add, remove, or update an isolation as needed. 

Please note that there will no longer be any Best Practice Advisories to suggest an appropriate isolation status; therefore, it will be important that required or suggested isolation updates are addressed in a timely manner. 

In an effort to decrease the amount of UA orders for suspected infections in asymptomatic patients, the urinalysis and urine culture order panel has been updated to include symptoms. These changes will impact urine reflex orders for both catheterized and non-catheterized patients at all UMMC locations. In addition, abnormal urinalysis has been removed from the urine culture only(restricted) order as an option.
