Coffee Talk with Maggie Wade

Good morning!

Today, I’m excited to share with you a Coffee Talk edition of VC Notes featuring the incomparable and delightful Maggie Wade. For more than 40 years, Maggie has been a staple personality on Jackson-area televisions but is more of a statewide icon as a WLBT news reporter/anchor.

Woodward_and_Wade.jpgI think you’ll enjoy our conversation that touches on several topics including how and why she got into television, what she likes most about her job (including what is important about her job but maybe not her favorite part), her thoughts on social media and what the Medical Center means to her. As you can imagine, she’s an excellent, engaging communicator, and I feel like I could talk to her all day about anything.

We didn’t talk about it while the cameras were rolling, but afterward she shared that when she started at WLBT, her very first field report was right here at UMMC. She was covering a story of teddy bears being passed out to children who were getting treatments, and it was so good it was picked up by NBC News national! I’m not at all surprised she experienced success right off the bat; she was born to do this. I love knowing that she started her illustrious career, which has made her maybe the most trustworthy person in Mississippi, covering a story at the Medical Center.

I know that Maggie will watch this, and I hope my interviewing skills make her proud. I think you will enjoy watching this as much as I did making it.
