Dr. Carmen Obeng grew up in Ghana. She’s currently completing her transitional year at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. She completed her MPH locally at Jackson State University and went to medical school in Ghana. She’s always been interested in Primary Health Care and Preventive Medicine. After graduating from medical school, she had the opportunity to explore the health care system in Ghana through working in various health centers, rural maternity homes, and child welfare clinics. She’s very eager to continue training here at UMMC because of its strong focus on evidence-based practice of medicine and patient centered care and because her family still live in Jackson.
