Dr. West is an epidemiologist with expertise in chronic disease epidemiology. She is a co-investigator in the MIND (Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia) Center at UMMC and has a faculty appointment in the Department of Preventive Medicine. Dr. West’s research focuses on identifying causal factors associated with chronic metabolic or vascular diseases, including cognitive decline and dementia, obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. She is particularly interested in identifying novel risk factors for cognitive impairment that will identify high-risk populations and lead to strategies to prevent cognitive decline. Dr. West has been a co-investigator with several large longitudinal studies of metabolic and vascular risk factors in populations across the life course. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI)
