The overall mission of the Division of Pediatric Clinical Research (PCR) is to improve the healthcare of children by increasing pediatric labeling information for medications and devices utilized in the neonatal and pediatric populations as well as substantially impacting childhood diseases through physiologic and pathologic discoveries and development of treatment modalities.
Specifically, the role of the division is to facilitate the conduct of company-sponsored and investigator-initiated research, assist with protocol and grant development and submissions, ensure research is conducted according to ICH/GCP guidelines by assembling qualified research certified personnel, provide 24-hour on-call coverage for patient recruitment and adverse events monitoring, and educate students, interns, residents, staff and faculty in regards to research components. The division oversees activities in all areas of research including regulatory, clinical and laboratory.
By providing pediatric labeling information for medications and devices that is currently lacking, we increase our arsenal of safe and effective treatment modalities that may be used for our pediatric patients. Thus, ensuring that effective and safe medications are available is vital to our commitment to provide quality health care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
