Surgical Pathology Fellowship

The Department of Pathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center offers two (2) one- to two-year non-ACGME accredited fellowship positions in Surgical Pathology, providing advanced training and experience in diagnostic surgical pathology. An emphasis in breast, gynecologic pathology, placenta / perinatal pathology, bone and soft tissue, gastrointestinal pathology, head and neck or pediatric pathology (or a combination thereof) is available in addition to general surgical pathology. The distribution of subspecialties can be arranged to meet the future career goals of the trainee.

Fellows are expected to participate in intradepartmental and interdepartmental conferences, and pathology resident and medical student teaching. Involvement in clinical research is encouraged. The department has 24 faculty and 12 residents in anatomic and clinical pathology. The Surgical Pathology division examines approximately 20,000 surgical pathology accessions per year.


Board eligibility or certification in anatomic pathology or AP/CP. Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a Mississippi medical license.


Academic rank and salary will be at the instructor level.
