The Medical Center’s adult palliative care program trains students and residents to use an interdisciplinary approach to best meet the needs of patients with advanced, life-limiting illnesses.
Internal medicine residents can spend a month in palliative care as an elective in their training.
They learn to ease pain and other symptoms and improve quality of life for those with serious illnesses. They’re trained to start care at the beginning of an illness, accompanying treatment meant to cure, or to offer end-of-life treatment.
