I chose UMMC for a number of reasons. I was impressed by the operative experience of this program, as the amount of hands-on training the residents received seemed to be really great. Also, the group of residents here were very easy to be around, and it was clear that they were truly friends outside of work. Lastly, the faculty are very devoted to teaching and resident education. Two of my main goals for residency were to become the best surgeon I could be and to make great friends along the way, and I believe both of those can be accomplished here at UMMC.
