How is the weather in Mississippi during interview season?
October and November are typically cool in the mornings and mild in the afternoons; December is typically cool all day, and January is typically cold all day. A light jacket would be appropriate in December and a heavy jacket in January. Mississippi weather is unpredictable, so make sure to check the weather and bring a small umbrella just in case.

What do I need to know about the applicant dinner?
Applicant dinners are held at a local restaurant in the District at Eastover the night before your interview day. The dinner typically starts about 6:30 p.m. If you are staying at the Residence Inn, you will be able to walk to dinner. Dress is business casual - no coats or ties required. Spouses/significant others are welcome if they also are in town for your interview.

How long is the interview day?
The interview day starts around 7:00 a.m. and lasts until around 2 p.m.

When do I check out of the hotel? Do I have a place to store my luggage?
Your interview will not end prior to check-out time on the day of the interview. Therefore, you will need to check out that morning prior to leaving the hotel. You may leave your luggage at the front desk, and they will keep it for you until the end of your interview day.

Will I need to drive myself to the interview? If so, where should I park?
If you are staying at the Residence Inn, transportation will be provided by the residency program to and from the hospital. If you drive your own vehicle to the interview, park in garage A at UMMC. Bring your parking ticket with you for validation at the end of the day. Directions to garage A: From North State Street, turn onto the UMMC campus at the stoplight (across from Backyard Burger); garage A is on the left.
