The University of Mississippi Medical Center's Department of Family Medicine is accepting applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology/behavioral medicine. This fellowship prepares psychologists for careers in academic health centers by providing supervised clinical, teaching, and research/scholarly activity opportunities. Fellows provide outpatient clinical services in a Family Medicine residency training primary care clinic and receive inpatient consultation experience at a 500-bed tertiary care community hospital. Fellows are actively involved in the didactic training and teaching of Family Medicine residents and other trainee groups. Scholarly activities include authorship opportunities (independent or established research) with a focus on behavioral interventions within primary care settings. During the fellowship, individuals are supported in their work towards licensure; EPPP study materials are provided as well as protected examination preparation time.
Fellows' stipends are $44,500 (first year) with liberal benefits (health insurance; retirement; personal, educational, and professional leave; and 10 holidays). Educational funds are used for conferences and EPPP study prep.
Candidates should have completed or be near completion of their doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology, including the completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
