Assistant Professor, Department of Advanced General Dentistry

The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Advanced General Dentistry at the Assistant Professor rank.

Responsibilities include serving in the didactic and clinical instructor settings for a wide range of general dentistry topics. Applicants must be experienced and/or able to deliver departmental and educational curricular content to pre-doctoral dental students and post-doctoral general dentistry residents. Applicants must be able to participate, and supervise students and residents, in all aspects of general dentistry including but not limited to: screening, diagnosis, radiographic interpretation, comprehensive treatment planning, operative, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery. Clinical duties will include after-hours call, delivering care in the operating room outside a typical 8-5 work day, and consulting with medical services. Expectations include academic pursuits for personal and professional development; teaching with a student-centered effectiveness and accessibility; a spirit of teamwork, collaboration and professionalism; responsibility and ethical participation in the educational process and dental practice; and obtaining BLS and ACLS instructor status in a reasonable time frame.

Minimum requirements include a DDS, DMD or equivalent dental degree from an international accredited program; eligibility for an unrestricted Mississippi dental license; successful completion of either a CODA accredited AEGD or GPR program; and successful hospital credentialing by the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Salary and rank are commensurate with credentials and experience. This full-time faculty position is eligible for both tenure and non-tenure track. Anticipated start date is January1, 2018.

Associate position available in Grenada, Mississippi. Associate must be willing to perform any general dentistry procedures on our mostly government funded program (MS Medicaid, MSCHIP, MSCAN) patients, the majority of which are children. Our office hours right now are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00-5:00 and Wednesday 7:30-4:30, but future scheduling is flexible and we will work with new associates on creating a schedule suitable for them.
