Degrees and Accreditation

Bachelors

Students who satisfactorily complete the undergraduate program will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Mississippi and are eligible to apply to take the examination for registration by the American Health Information Management Association.

The HIIM baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

In its most recent accreditation report, UMMC’s baccalaureate program in HIIM attained a 100% satisfaction rating from both employers and graduates alike.

Masters

Following satisfactory completion of all requirements, the student will be awarded the Master of Health Informatics and Information Management degree from the University of Mississippi.

The Health Informatics track leading to the Master of Health Informatics and Information Management Degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

The Master of Health Informatics and Information Management program has received SACSCOC approval through the University of Mississippi Medical Center's accreditation by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS information can be found at http://www.sacscoc.org.

Certification

Students who complete the HIM with RHIA eligibility track are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) national certification exam, administered by the American Health Information Management Association's Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM).
