Admission Requirements for HIIM Traditional Program

In addition to the admission standards of the institution and the general SHRP admission requirements, candidates seeking admission to the Health Informatics and Information Management traditional program must:

  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale;
  • Submit ACT scores;
  • Have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of academic credit from an regionally accredited institution of higher learning; and,
  • Successfully complete (a grade of C or better) the following minimum prerequisite requirements:

Students enrolled in a quarter academic calendar must complete the required sequence of courses which are equivalent to University of Mississippi courses.
2Social and behavioral sciences include courses such as anthropology, economics, political science, psychology or sociology.
3Humanities and fine arts include courses such as history, literature, foreign languages, journalism, philosophy, religion, art history, music appreciation or theater.
  • Once all documentation has been received by the UMMC Registrar's Office and the student's file is deemed complete, the student will be interviewed by the HIIM Admissions Committee and also must complete an onsite essay.

All application documents and application fees for the traditional program must be received by the Office of Student Records and Registrar by May 15 for fall admission
