TITLE: Leave of Absence
PURPOSE: To establish guidelines for a leave of absence from a degree program in the John D. Bower School of Population Health.
POLICY: Leave of absence from the Bower School of Population Health for students currently booked may be granted by the dean or designee under the following conditions:
- To students in good academic standing, a leave of absence may be granted for periods for up to 12 months to pursue training at another institution,
- To students in good academic standing, a leave of absence for generally no more than one academic semester may be allowed for personal, financial, or medical reasons, or
- To students not in good academic standing, a leave of absence may be granted at the discretion of the program director and dean. Such students may be permitted the option of withdrawal.
A student may request a leave of absence. To initiate this request, the student must complete the Bower School of Population Health Leave of Absence Request Form. The Office of the Dean will notify the student of the decision through the student’s official UMMC email account.
