PURPOSE: This policy is intended to provide University of Mississippi Medical Center students, employees, and other interested parties with information related to academic accommodations for a documented disability as specified under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
POLICY: The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is committed to ensuring equal access to a quality education for qualified students through the provision of reasonable academic accommodations which support UMMC standards and academic integrity. UMMC policy provides for reasonable academic accommodations to be made for students with verified disabilities on an individualized and flexible basis as specified under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
The Office of Academic Support is the designated office that receives and maintains academic accommodations-related documents, verifies eligibility for reasonable academic accommodations, and recommends reasonable academic accommodations. UMMC provides reasonable academic accommodations to students who request accommodations and who meet eligibility criteria. Students requesting and receiving accommodations are responsible for ensuring that all documentation and utilization guidelines, as maintained by the Office of Academic Support, are met.
