POLICY: Registration for a course makes the student responsible for meeting course requirements until the course is completed or until, with the permission of the dean or designee, the student officially withdraws from the course. Course withdrawal is facilitated by the dean or designee submitting official notice of withdrawal to the Offices of Enrollment Management, Student Financial Aid, and Student Accounting. Failure of a student to officially withdraw from a course will result in the recording of a failing grade in the course. An approved course withdrawal, if completed on or before the last day specified in the academic calendar, will not be recorded on the student’s record. Course(s) from which a student officially withdraws after that date will be recorded on the student’s transcript with a W unless the student has completed the course, in which case the final grade earned in the course will be recorded. Withdrawals from courses that begin after the approved withdrawal period will be considered on a case by case basis.

Enrollment in an academic program makes the student responsible for completion of the curriculum until, with the approval of the dean or designee, the student withdraws from the program or graduates. Official program withdrawal is facilitated by the dean or designee submitting official notice of withdrawal to the Offices of Enrollment Management, Student Financial Aid, and Student Accounting. Failure of a student to officially withdraw will result in the recording of a failing grade in the course(s) in which the student is enrolled. An approved withdrawal, if completed on or before the last day specified in the academic calendar, will not be recorded on the student’s record. Withdrawals authorized after that date will be recorded with a grade designation of W for all courses enrolled unless the student has completed the course(s), in which case the final grade earned in the course(s) will be recorded.

Individual schools may have more stringent withdrawal policies, and a student is allowed only as many withdrawals as his or her specific school prescribes.
