A global audience of cardiology experts watched in real-time as Dr. Makram Ebeid and his team performed two intricate heart-repair procedures, live-streamed to the annual Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiac Symposium. The surgeries were broadcasted at the conference in San Diego to over 850 attendees from over 50 countries.

Margaret Workman, the devoted nurse manager of UMMC’s transplant clinic, discovered her calling in the most unexpected place. While working as a teenager at Waffle House, she sprang into action during a medical emergency, uncovering her innate talent and passion for caring for others.
