A pilot program for integrated patient care, however, puts the patient first by allowing students to take care of multiple issues crossing departmental lines in a single visit, creating efficiencies for both.

Retired Jackson surgeon Dr. Randy Voyles, a member of the UMMC Medical Alumni Hall of Fame, is known as a pioneer in the laparoscopic surgical technique and as an expert in the application of electrical surgery. He has also become an authority on a medical matter that is intensely personal for him: the disease that forced him to retire.
