Hundreds of UMMC graduates earned degrees in the health sciences Friday during a ceremony at Mississippi Coliseum. The number of degrees conferred this year showed an increase of 97 from 2021, reflecting the Medical Center’s efforts to meet the state’s health care needs.

Family and friends were on hand to cheer on UMMC’s 2022 graduates for earning degrees ranging from baccalaureate to doctorates. Ceremonies Friday at Mississippi Coliseum were the first to include six health sciences schools since 2019.

After nine years, Dr. Jessica Bailey, the first woman to serve as SHRP dean, retires, leaving a legacy of advocacy, transformative leadership and excellence.

Parents may still see shortages of infant formula on store shelves, but efforts to put formula in parents’ hands should ease the crisis soon, University of Mississippi Medical Center experts say. Thanks to quick response and collaboration with suppliers, babies receiving care at UMMC have had the formula they need.

Since rejoining the workforce after raising her four children, Kimberlee King has put her people skills and caring spirit to good use as a customer service representative at UMMC, where she has made a lasting impression on patients, visitors and fellow employees.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming week at the Medical Center.

Medical Center leadership is proud to acknowledge those employees who will celebrate service anniversaries during the week of May 30 – June 5.
