The 2022 Nelson Order induction ceremony celebrated 20 of UMMC's best educators. The Regions TEACH Prize went to Dr. David Brown, professor of cell and molecular biology.

They’re both leaders in the nursing field that have made a significant impact, maybe too broad to measure. Dr. Jonathan Wilson and Dr. Alaina Herrington are being honored by the School of Nursing as its 2022 top alumni. It’s the first time the SON’s Alumni Board has named both an Alumna and an Alumnus of the Year, but the choice was clear: They’re both winners.

After Rachel Sims’ maternal-fetal medicine specialist spotted a possible heart defect in her unborn baby, things moved fast for her and little Bishop. A multidisciplinary team from the Children’s of Mississippi Heart Center stepped in to begin caring for him, and the Medical Center’s maternal-fetal medicine team prepared Rachel for her third child’s birth. After two surgeries, Bishop is thriving.

Helping patients live healthier lives is the goal of School of Pharmacy graduate Amy Ly-Ha. Her sights set on becoming an ambulatory care pharmacist, Ly-Ha is pursuing post-graduate training at UMMC.

Police officers Shaun Hiley and Garry Lee were so effective at deescalating potentially violent incidents with patients that they have been named Top Cops.

During Employee Appreciation Week and National Nurses' Week, faculty and staff were treated to fun activities ranging from a hot dog meal to therapy dogs to musical entertainment - and don't forget a food truck visit! It's been a rough two years, but we are #UMMCStronger. Thanks for all you do!
