More students in the state will benefit from telehealth services offered through the University of Mississippi Medical Center thanks to a $17.6 million federal grant administered through the state Department of Education.

In a move to improve the prospects for primary care in Mississippi, the School of Medicine at UMMC has awarded valuable scholarships to eight medical students in exchange for their promise to devote several years of service to these communities in need.

A study involving experts from the University of Mississippi Medical Center shows infants younger than 6 months are 61 percent less likely to need hospitalization for COVID-19 if their mothers were vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus during pregnancy.

Showing support for patient safety, Children’s of Mississippi held its first-ever Hand Hygiene Stand-down Feb. 15. Hospital leaders and staff, volunteers, members of the Family Advisory Support Team and students from the School of Nursing at UMMC teamed to remind everyone of the importance of hand hygiene.
