Mississippi and Maryland recorded increases in pediatric mental health consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic, a research project by the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Medicine found. The calls through CHAMP, or Child Access to Mental Health and Psychiatry, have risen 11 percent since March 2020.
