Clinics in Jackson Public Schools and the South Delta School District increase students’ access to care, improve health and reduce time away from the classroom. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing presented the Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award to the UMMC School of Nursing during the AACN Nursing Leadership Conference Oct. 30.

From games to costumes and treats, Halloween was celebrated throughout Children’s of Mississippi’s Sanderson and Batson towers thanks to donations from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and dedicated volunteers from Children’s of Mississippi.

Anxiety, grief, self-doubt and just everyday homesickness – these are some of the concerns students at any institution may face. For five years now, students in the seven Medical Center schools have been encouraged to bring their worries to the staff of the Student Counseling and Wellness Center. Today, the center has made it easier than ever for them to tap into the support they seek.

Sixty PhD students presented their work at their first in-person Research Day since 2019, while the School for Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences recognized their 2020 and 2021 Distinguished Alums for their outstanding contributions to biomedical research, education and service.

UMMC received 102 extramural grants and awards from July-September 2021. The following faculty received the largest new and competitive renewal awards during the quarter.
