School leaders say the clinic keeps students healthy and ready to learn.

When Felicia Beasley had an MRI as part of her preparations for a kidney transplant, she got some unexpected test results: The scan showed not one, but two brain aneurysms. Her UMMC neurosurgeon repaired the biggest and most dangerous of the aneurysms through a procedure to guide a tiny basket-like device through a catheter and into an artery in her brain to keep the aneurysm from rupturing. Patients go home after an overnight stay.

Research from The MIND Center found that midlife levels of beta-amyloid -- a defining marker of Alzheimer's disease -- could identify who's most at-risk for cognitive impairment late in life. The finding could help researchers conduct more effective clinical trials.
