Since 2014, the Medical Center's Heart Team has given patients new life and added quality of life through transcatheter aortic valve replacement. The American College of Cardiology is recognizing UMMC’s team approach to TAVR and its excellence in care by naming the Medical Center the state’s first and only accredited Transcatheter Valve Center.

Dr. George Russell, a longtime UMMC surgeon, is taking on a new and forward-thinking administrative role. Effective July 1, he’s stepping out of his leadership of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation to serve as CEO of University Physicians' physician practice.
