As the COVID-19 pandemic has continued, the Medical Center has increased its testing capabilities several-fold in the last two months. Now, UMMC is also testing residents and employees of the state's long-term care facilities.

Even though Dr. Jason Griggs came from a family of educators, teaching wasn't originally his passion. But 22 years in academia and a lot of effort changed that.

When the number of heart failure hospitalizations at the Medical Center sank sharply this spring, a cadre of concerned physicians, mostly from UMMC, investigated. Their findings, published in a medical journal this month, finger a likely offender – the one spreading health care havoc here and across the world.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center garnered 58 new, continuing and revised grants and awards from January-March 2020, totaling $11,986,779.
