In January, during an annual luncheon to honor scholarship winners, one School of Medicine student gave a moving speech about her journey to medical school and how a young girl in search of a home became a young woman for whom everything finally fell into place. This is an account of that journey.

Mississippi Miracles Radiothon, a three-day event to benefit Children’s of Mississippi, will broadcast live from the student union starting Wednesday. Pediatric patients and their families will share inspiring stories with on-air personalities of 12 of The Radio People’s largest stations while listeners will make donations. Last year, the event raised $502,119 for Children’s Hospital.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
