UMMC to open state's first primary care clinic for LGBTQ patients

Members of Mississippi’s LGBTQ community may avoid getting primary care for a number of reasons: stigma, perceived discrimination or fear that a caregiver will reject them. Going without that care can exacerbate chronic conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension. To help address the issue, UMMC is opening a multidisciplinary clinic to meet their primary care needs.
