Children’s of Mississippi’s new chief nursing and clinical services officer has served some of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals in Phoenix, Atlanta and Temple, Texas. Her experience with expansion projects will be invaluable as UMMC progresses toward the fall 2020 opening of a pediatric hospital addition.

UMMC cares for the sickest of the sick, and it shows: University Hospital beds are full almost every day. The hospital's capacity needs are being addressed with the addition of a new patient floor - 2 West - that will primarily consist of medical-surgical beds, with plans to add more beds as the patient population grows.

A biomedical materials science professor earns an alumni award for engineering, computing and applied sciences; an assistant professor of family medicine is appointed to an admissions committee for a national association; and a 3 Circle Nurse garners a Good Catch Award.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
