The Gertrude C. Ford Foundation Hope Lodge, which will provide lodging, meals and transportation to patients receiving cancer care and treatment in the Jackson area, officially opens today. Located across State Street from the Medical Center, the Lodge can remove the barriers Mississippians that live many miles away from Jackson-area cancer providers face.

A free series of interactive workshops is helping the Medical Center's workforce increase professionalism and prepare for career advancement. According to one participant, Preparing for Success is more than just a networking tool - it's packed with information that can help employees navigate the road to A Healthier Mississippi.

Helping others comes naturally to Dorothea Staursky, a UMMC hospital administration resident. When Be The Match called saying they had a patient who needed her stem cells, she immediately responded, “yes.” Now she’s encouraging others to join the Registry.
