A quest that started about a year ago reached its exhilarating conclusion last Friday when about 120 participating fourth-year medical students learned which programs accepted them for training in a medical specialty. One student in particular who took the stage with her boyfriend got at least one offer she wasn’t expecting.

Children who started life in UMMC’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will have access to a continuum of care in mental and behavioral health, thanks to a $2.5 million Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant. Mississippi Be-HIP seeks to expand mental health services to children as they grow.

A pair of inpatient nurses at the Medical Center go "above and beyond" to earn quarterly DAISY Award honors, while eight trainees at UMMC received various distinctions from the Mississippi Academy of Sciences.
