When Corbin Connerley developed a high fever and a sinus infection, he was treated with antibiotics at UMMC Grenada. But his infection worsened, so he was treated at Batson Children's Hospital and began a months-long recovery that included three surgeries and weeks of physical therapy. Now, he’s back to being an active 10-year-old.
As a dermatologist and teacher, the chair of dermatology at UMMC enjoys a reputation that extends far beyond the borders of the Medical Center and his adopted state. Dr. Robert Brodell is known for his studiousness with patients and his patience with students, belying a title he gave himself: the “accidental dermatologist.”
Karen Bascom recently achieved a lifetime goal: In January, the Public Affairs editor-writer was a contestant on “Jeopardy!” Then came the devastating news that the quiz show's host, Alex Trebek, had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Bascom and the Jeopardy! community are rooting for Trebek, who vows to fight his disease.
Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
Medical Center leadership is proud to acknowledge those employees who will celebrate service anniversaries during the week of March 11-17.
