Beginning in March, the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center will host a dedicated education unit for accelerated students in the School of Nursing. Seven SON students will each work alongside a nurse in the VA’s ICU unit to gain real-world knowledge and add to the variety of clinical experiences in the program.

There’s a new location for the Mississippi Miracles Radiothon, but its mission remains the same - to support Children's of Mississippi. Construction of UMMC’s $180 million peds expansion is moving the annual event from the Children’s Hospital lobby to the second floor of the Student Union. The broadcast will begin at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Dr. Michael Ryan, associate dean for student affairs in the School of Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences, received the Institutions of Higher Learning Diversity Educator of the Year award last week. It’s one of several accolades Ryan has received for his efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in the biomedical sciences.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
