Dr. Kim Hoover, dean of the School of Nursing, will retire Dec. 17. The list of her accomplishments is long and varied: among them, she doubled enrollment in the school from 427 to 850 students and adding three nurse practitioner-managed clinics to underserved areas of Jackson and Sharkey and Issaquena counties.

A tradition for 30 years, "BankPlus Presents Light-A-Light" brought the magic of the season to patients at Batson Children’s Hospital Tuesday. The event included the lighting of the Rainbow Garden tree; decorations by Mississippi's First Lady and the CMN Hospitals Champion; and a ballet performance of scenes from “The Nutcracker.”

When men who have sex with men take the PrEP HIV preventive medicine as directed, their risk of infection is dramatically lowered. Regular clinic visits to manage their health also factor into staying HIV-negative, studies show. Researchers at UMMC are exploring “real-world” data to determine how many people get true PrEP care.
