It’s a problem that’s not going away any time soon: Mississippi lags the nation in the number of primary care physicians per 100,000 population. One solution being implemented by the Mississippi Office of Physician Workforce is creating new physician residencies specifically for rural, underserved areas.

UMMC has “a history of great stories,” as noted by its leader, Dr. LouAnn Woodward. Her remark, made last week, was particularly resonant for the occasion: the UMMC Medical Alumni Awards Dinner, where six of the institution’s greatest stories were told.

Virtually the entire catalog of the Rowland Medical Library's rich resources - both electronic and print - will be unleashed in one search engine when Discovery goes live Sept. 10. According to Rowland's director, the launch will help the library take a giant step forward into the latest in research technology.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
