The 930 students in the Medical Center’s Class of 2018 are going forth to make a difference in the health of Mississippians and patients outside the state. During Commencement May 25, that sentiment was deeply personal for 11 graduates who were hooded by family members – mothers, fathers or spouses – after taking their diplomas in hand.

Graduates of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Health Related Professions, Dentistry and Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences are leaving campus with the aim of improving health and quality of life throughout the state and nation. Having reached an incredible milestone in their lives, they are excited about what the future may hold.

It’s come full circle for Jessica Dobbins, who has admitted patients receiving a bone marrow or stem cell transplant and who now works with pediatric doctors who offer this therapy. She was a match for someone who needed the life-saving procedure.
