With a broad background in human resources management, Paula Henderson is promoting a culture in which all employees feel valued and engaged in their workplace. UMMC's new chief human resources officer is galvanizing her team by attracting the best and brightest employees – and retaining them.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed Executive Order 1411 requiring all state employees to complete active shooter training by June 1. Soon, Medical Center staff and students will learn the fundamentals of the mandated "Avoid, Deny, Defend" program.

Employee and student wellness are key factors in UMMC’s journey to A Healthier Mississippi. Steps can be taken in that direction Tuesday at the Medical Center’s quarterly Farmer’s Market. Look for strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, boiled peanuts and other vegetables and fruits for sale at the event.
