A decade ago, UMMC had few genomic research technologies - tools and machines needed to study the DNA and RNA that make up the blueprint for our bodies. Now, the Molecular and Genomics Core Facility helps dozens of laboratories across Mississippi conduct their research.

The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport is now being managed by UMMC, the home of the state’s only Level IV NICU. The management agreement finalized in late January will forge connections with the Children’s of Mississippi specialty clinic in Biloxi, bringing care closer to Gulf Coast families.
