After professional careers that spanned four decades or more, two metro-area residents weren’t quite ready for the “retiree” label. Instead, Tom Starling and Shellie Bailey are employing their hearts at the Medical Center as volunteers who enrich the lives of adults, children and their families.

The potential for successful alcohol treatment is at its best when a person’s drinking is not heavy but is still negatively affecting his or her life choices. A new alcohol assessment and treatment program at UMMC provides early intervention for drinkers that can free them of alcohol use and help them regain their lives.

The University of Mississippi will unveil a new initiative, Flagship Constellations, at 4 p.m. Nov. 17 on the Oxford campus. A livestream will be available for those on the UMMC campus.
