What’s in a name? For HumMod, which received its registered trademark in June, there are 10,000 variables, 50 years of development and one goal: to advance medical science and understanding. Now, UMMC researchers are refining the mathematical model of human physiology in hopes that it will enhance and improve the clinical trial process.

Synthetic opioids produced in Asia for street sale in this country are causing more and more deaths, often because the people taking them have no idea how deadly the smallest amount can be. The advanced expertise of UMMC’s analytic toxicology lab is breaking down synthetic opioid and other illegal drugs' composition to help identify what’s traveling through this state and to give law enforcement another tool to do their jobs more effectively.
