PhD in Neuroscience

The graduate neuroscience program is an interdepartmental PhD program with collaborating faculty from 13 departments at UMMC. The program objectives are to educate and train individuals to become independent researchers with a broad understanding of the neurosciences.

Students choose dissertations laboratories following series of research rotation. Research focuses include sensory systems, neurodevelopment, neuroendocrinology, depression, substance abuse, obesity, brain trauma and spinal cord injury. Our curriculum includes didactic and non-didactic coursework, with emphasis on experimental design, science writing and communication skills. In addition, students participate in a variety of career-building opportunities.

On behalf of the executive committee for the program, I hope that you enjoy exploring this website. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We also cordially invite you to stop by if you are in the vicinity. We are more than happy to provide a personal introduction to the program and the UMMC neuroscience community.
