University Transplant Guild Membership Drive

Current University Transplant Guild members will host a membership drive to increase awareness of UMMC Transplant and patient needs. Participants may enter a drawing to win prizes.

The University Transplant Guild, a fund of the University of Mississippi Foundation, strives to ease the financial burden of UMMC Transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients by providing emergency financial assistance.

The membership drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 6 in the Clinical Sciences Catwalk.

UMMC Discovery Day will take place in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union on Friday, April 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. This single-site, rotation-based event showcasing several academic schools, programs, centers and departments on the Jackson campus of UMMC. It's designed to expose high school students (grades 10-12) and undergraduate students to health care and research careers, as well as the educational programs that lead to these careers.

See, Test & Treat® is a prevention and health education program that offers free screenings to uninsured and underinsured individuals who meet the eligibility guidelines.

Available screenings include cervical cancer (Pap test) for women aged 21–64, mammograms for women aged 40–64, oral, head and neck cancer screenings for men and women aged 21–64 and lung screenings for eligible current or former smokers aged 50–80. Participants who qualify for lung screening will receive a free low-dose CT exam.

The event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the UMMC Pavilion. Light refreshments, health education and access to community resources will also be available.

To determine eligibility, participants may complete the required information online or call 601-815-3572. Those who apply will be notified if they qualify for screening.

Guest parking has been designated for this event at the Farmers Market at 352 E. Woodrow Wilson Drive. Shuttle service will be provided from the Mississippi Farmers Market to the Norman C. Nelson Student Union. Please arrive no later than 11:30 a.m. to allow for shuttle transit time. UMMC Police will be on hand to direct guests as needed. The ceremony will be held in the UMMC Cemetery.

A reception will follow the ceremony in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.
