Affiliation Program

The vision of the Evers-Williams Institute is to be a family- and community-centered institute dedicated to the elimination of health and healthcare disparities in Mississippi. The institute is dedicated to addressing the health and well-being of families through:

  • the conduct of action research targeting the social determinants of health;
  • the creation of sustainable and mutually-beneficial community-based partnerships;
  • rigorous and comprehensive training, education and mentoring for those that are interested in health and healthcare disparities; and
  • the development and implementation of family- and community-based programs and services focused on improving health status.

In the quest to reduce health and healthcare disparities, we seek to collaborate with faculty, students, and others across the state who are interested in interdisciplinary approaches to health disparities.

The Evers-Williams Institute offers three types of affiliations:

  • Associate member (UMMC and MSU faculty members)
  • External members (collaborators from neighboring academic institutions and community-based organizations and those collaborators of UMMC and external affiliate members)
  • Student/trainee members (students attending UMMC and MSU)

If you are interested in becoming an affiliate, complete the affiliate membership information form, and email it, along with your CV/resume, to Felicia Caples.
