    Areas of expertise

    • General: Cardiovascular, renal, neural, endocrine physiology.
    • Specific: Neurohormonal mechanisms in the pathogenesis of hypertension and heart failure.

    Research methods and technologies

Chronic instrumentation of dogs for measurement of hemodynamics and renal function. Measurement of norepinephrine kinetics for determination of whole-body and regional (especially renal) sympathetic activity. Split-bladder in combination with unilateral renal denervation for assessing 24-h neural control of renal function. Fos immunochemistry for assessing CNS neuronal activation. Chronic electrical stimulation of the carotid baroreflex for determination of baroreflex function and the role of the sympathetic nervous system in circulatory control.
